3rd & 4th Day of Riding in Tuscany

Hi everybody!

We have had a couple of good days of riding in Tuscany, we are continuing to have warm and sunny weather.

Square in Volterra
Yesterday we went off of the prescribed route and took a (planned) side trip to Volterra, a beautiful walled city a little ways away from where we are staying. We had a group of about five folks for this journey, and it turned out to be a really nice ride. It was about 70 miles round trip, and kind of hilly, but it was worth the extra miles.

We had a nice leisurely lunch in Volterra and started back home at about 2:30 in the afternoon. The advantage of starting back in mid afternoon, is there is no traffic. Almost nothing is open at that time of day, so the roads have very few cars at that time. We were able to get off of all of the busier roads before the traffic started back up for the evening.

Today we also took a side trip to the city of Cecina on the coast. We figured that we might as well see it today since we had the time and energy.

We hope you are all doing well,
